Yiri Ba is traditionally a Mandengue song from Burkina Faso which laments the falling of a big tree. A metaphor for death of an elder.

In West African culture, the elders carry a lot of knowledge and ancient traditions of the land and the people therefore when a big tree falls, it is like the library building burning down. All the knowledge and history disappears.

This song was recorded in Langkawi Island, Malaysia in November 2018.
